Welcome to Music at The Wheatlands!! This blog will serve to be a great form of communication for you to see what we do in music at TW. Hopefully you'll have fun learning about what your child(ren) are doing each day. If you click on the link above for School Music Page, you will find out more information about the curriculum for the district. You will also find many different study guides and ways that you can help your child in music class. I will do my best (this is a new endeavor) to keep you updated on what we are doing in music as the school year goes on! With that in mind... here's what is up first for all grade levels!
1st Grade: Steady Beat
2nd Grade: Steady Beat (culminating in composing their own rhythm band project!)
3rd Grade: Steady Beat (culminating in a very awesome Rap Project!)
4th Grade: Steady Beat (Ending with some serious dance moves created by the kids!)
5th Grade: Songs of the American Railroad (We get to learn about work songs from the mid-1800s while listening to totally random music and talking about history. This unit ends with the kids creating a song about something they don't like to do... or just plain don't like. The idea is that the Railroad workers sang many of these songs to make light of the bad situation that they were in!)
